Toronto Fire Services kicks off Fire Prevention Week this morning supporting the 2016 theme as captured in the slogan “Don’t wait – check the date! Replace smoke alarms every 10 years”. 12 fire stations will host open houses across the city with activities, fire safety information, free food and drink. Visit the link here to find out where these stations are.
Participants will learn that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms don’t last forever. The units need to be replaced at least once every 10 years to ensure effective operation. Alarm batteries should be changed annually.
The Fire Prevention Week 2016 Finale will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 10am to 3pm at the Toronto Fire and Paramedic Training Centre, 895 Eastern Avenue.
